Grade 10-11 course particulars

The Grade 10 high school French course, typically called Core French 10 is designed to significantly develop a student's communication skills from the foundational level

1. Communication and Fluency.                   The primary goal is to increase confidence and fluency in French. Key content includes; Oral Interaction: Participating in discussions, expressing opinions, giving and following instructions, and presenting on various topics.Vocabulary Expansion: Building a larger repertoire of common, high-frequency words and expressions.Real-Life Scenarios: Practicing French in contexts like travel, shopping, ordering food, describing daily routines, and discussing future plans

2. Grammar and Structure              Students move from simple sentences to more complex grammatical structures, including:Verb Tenses: Mastering the use of the present tense and introducing or solidifying the use of the past tense (passé composé) and the near future tense (futur proche).Pronouns and Adjectives: Expanding use of different types of pronouns (e.g., direct and indirect object pronouns) and ensuring correct agreement of adjectives.Questioning: Developing various ways to ask and answer questions in French

3. Cultural Awareness                               A significant component of the course is exploring the diversity of the global Francophone community. Topics may include:Francophone Communities: Learning about French-speaking regions around the world (e.g., Québec, France, parts of Africa or the Caribbean).Cultural Practices: Examining traditions, stories, music, and social issues within Francophone cultures.

4. Reading and Writing             Students develop skills in interpreting and creating different types of texts:Reading Comprehension: Reading short stories, articles, and real-world documents (like advertisements or simple news) in French.Composition: Writing descriptive paragraphs, short narratives, emails, or journals using accurate grammar and a developing range of vocabulary

ESSENTIALS

In frech, you'll need standard school supplies like a notebook, pens, pencils, and a backpack, along with French-specific essentials like a dictionary, a good grammar book, and supplementary learning materials such as bilingual books or music

The Grade 11 high school French course, typically designated as Core French 11 is a significant step up from Grade 10. It is often the minimum level required for university entrance in many Canadian provinces.

1. Advanced Grammar and Structure    Students are expected to master and regularly apply more complex grammatical structures, moving beyond simple present and past tenses.Past Tenses: Solidifying the use of the Passé Composé and introducing or expanding on the use of the Imparfait (imperfect past tense) to describe conditions, repeated actions, and set scenes.Future Tense (Futur Simple): Learning the full conjugation of the simple future tense to discuss long-term plans and hypothetical events.Subjunctive Mood (Le Subjonctif): Introduction to this complex mood, typically used after certain expressions of emotion, desire, doubt, or necessity.Pronouns: Mastery of various pronoun types, including relative pronouns (qui, que, dont, où) to link ideas and create complex sentences.

2. Communicative Themes and Skills       The themes become more abstract and relate to social issues, personal opinions, and future aspirations.Sustained Dialogue: The ability to engage in longer, more detailed conversations, express complex opinions, justify choices, and debate issues.Social Issues: Discussing topics like global citizenship, environmental concerns, media influence, and current events.Career & Future: Researching job opportunities, discussing education, and expressing future goals.Travel and Culture: Planning detailed trips, reading authentic travel brochures, and discussing cultural comparisons in depth
