Answer is 24
TYPES OF HIGHSCHOOL MATH
COURSES
Pre-Algebra: A preparatory course for students who need to strengthen their skills before starting Algebra 1. Algebra I: Focuses on real numbers, linear equations, graphing, polynomials, and quadratic equations.Geometry: Covers plane and solid geometry, and is often taken after Algebra 1.
Algebra II: Delves deeper into Algebra 1 concepts and often includes trigonometry
Advanced and specialized courses
Trigonometry: Sometimes a separate course, this involves concepts from both algebra and geometry.
Pre-Calculus: For students pursuing higher-level math, this course covers series, sequences, probability, statistics, and derivatives.
Calculus: The highest level of math offered in many high schools, it builds on pre-calculus concepts with more advanced methods.
Statistics: Focuses on the collection and analysis of data.
Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Courses: These are advanced-level courses, such as AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, that offer college-level instruction and can be more challenging than standard courses.
Linear Algebra: Another advanced course, often recommended for students interested in STEM fields

Introduction to Math: BC curriculum
The Highschool math curriculum progresses from grade 8-9 with complex topics like algebra , functions and trigonometry. Key Topics introduced are Mastering operations with powers, Factoring polynomials, Solving systems of equations, Comprehending functions and relations while applying trigonometry with Financial literacy . Brade 12 offers specialized pat courses like Apprentiship math, Precalculus , along with specific courses like Caluus and Statistics.
The Curriculum is organized into two main pathways: Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-calculus. Both pathways begin with a common Grade 10 course that covers topics like linear functions, systems of equations, powers, and trigonometry. Students then choose a Grade 11 course that aligns with their post-secondary goals. Foundations of Math 11 is for students pursuing trades, apprenticeships, or programs that don't require calculus, focusing on topics like geometry, finance, and statistics. Pre-calculus 11 is for those aiming for university programs that require calculus, delving deeper into topics like functions, powers, and trigonometric identities
PALMER'S METHODS OF TEACHING MATHEMATICS
Palmer Secondary School has a core math curriculum that includes reasoning, angle relationships, graph analysis, and financial literacy, along with pathways for students who want to accelerate through the standard curriculum. The Incentive Program offers an accelerated and enriched math path, allowing students to complete Grades 8-10 math in two years, enabling them to take Grade 11 courses like Pre-calculus or Foundations of Math in Grade 10. Additionally, there is a Workplace Math path for students who need an alternative to the academic stream.
Core curriculum It focuses on Mathematical reasoning, angle relationships, graph analysis, applications of statistics, scale models, and financial literacy. the goal is to continue to focus on the mathematical processes learned in previous grades. Incentive Program (Accelerated)
Purpose: To challenge motivated students to reach their full potential. Structure: Students complete the equivalent of Grades 8-10 math in two years. Benefit: Allows students to take Grade 11 math (like Enriched Math 11 or regular Math 11) and Grade 11 science courses (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) in Grade 10.
Additional components: Students participate in a major math contest each year and are expected to develop creative and critical thinking skills.
Workplace Math
Purpose: An alternative pathway for students who may need a different approach. Structure: Students take Workplace Math 9 and then Workplace Math 10. Admission: Requires a recommendation from the Math 8 teacher and school-based team. Other programs like ACCESS Program is an individualized program for students working towards an Evergreen Certificate or adult Dogwood Diploma, with goals focused on literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning.
